Read and Plant Project
At Authentic Roots, we create learning resources that inspire children to grow their own food while enhancing their environmental awareness through interactive, educational storybooks. Our storybook collections range from Plantable storybooks, with covers embedded with seeds that can be planted, to a Read and Plant storybook, which has a spinach seed pack inside.
Connecting Learning with Nature.
Reading and planting isn’t just educational, it’s fun. Our unique approach combines the joys of reading with the excitement of planting, turning learners into active participants in their own educational journey.

Children plant seeds in recycled trays, nurturing a meaningful connection with nature. Our storybooks, tailored for pre-school to Grade 1, include interactive elements such as planting calendars, educational questions, and entertaining mazes. The author also offers to physically be present at the school to read and plant with the learners - she actively engages with learners, ensuring age-appropriate teachings that leave a lasting impact.

Plant. Grow. Eat.
Nurturing Young Minds Through Storybooks.

Our growing collection of storybooks encourages children to cultivate their own food while creating curiosity, responsibility, and sustainable habits. Designed to align with the school curriculum, these books are ideal for pre-primary and primary school classrooms.
Each storybook features planting calendars, thought-provoking educational questions, and delightful mazes.
Our latest addition focuses on the life cycle of a spinach plant, supporting our Environmental Education programme and promoting sustainability, food recycling, and a deeper understanding of nature’s interconnection with human life.
Reaping the Benefits
Cultivating Health, Sowing Roots.
From planting seeds to witnessing growth, children develop patience, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of their connection to the natural world. Our project encourages outdoor engagement, hands-on interaction with nature, and the therapeutic benefits of learning beyond the classroom.
The Read and Plant Project is more than education, it’s a journey that helps young minds recharge, thrive, and grow sustainably.
